ValAsta/Astaxanthin and Neuroprotective Activity

  • ValAsta/Astaxanthin and Neuroprotective Activity

Patented ValAsta/astaxanthin is the only astaxanthin which has been shown to be 500 times more potent than α-tocopherol. ValAsta has the ability to cross the blood–brain-barrier (BBB) and shows antioxidant, and neuroprotective activities. The attached study revealed that astaxanthin (AST) showed neuroprotective activity. Treatment with AST recovered the level of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and glutathione while decreased MDA level in the brain tissue. Thus, AST could be an important drug of choice to rescue VPA-induced oxidative stress (Valproic Acid) in autism.
